Chapter 5. Customization

MrclDict save all configurations to the system registry at HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\MiracleNet Group\MrclDict\Settings

5.1. Autosave parameters

The following parameters are automatically retrived from the system when was MrclDict terminated.

Always on top (View/Always on top)
Monitor clipboard (File/Monitor clipboard)
Toolbar/Status bar/Lookup bar visibility(View/Toolbar)
Window size and possition

Other parameters can be set by Setting dialog box from File/Setting menu command.

5.2. Setting Server parameters

Server: The name of the DICT? server. The default is dict.org.
Port: The port number MrclDict uses to connect. 2628 is the standard.
Timeout: The connection timeout in seconds. The default is 60 seconds.
Database: The default database. The default is “* -- All databases”.
Strategy: The default Strategy. The default is “lev -- The Levenshtein algorithm (string edit distance of one)”
Use UNICODE: Use UNICODE/UTF-8 encoding. All query strings send to DICT? server are encoded to UTF-8. The server reply are expected to be UTF-8 encoded string, then convert to UNICODE string. This option require Windows NT or later.
If this option is not set, all data assume to be extended ASCII.

5.3. Setting Apperance parameters

Background Color: Set Result window background. The default is “#EAE3AE”.
Default Font: Set Result window default font. The default is “Times New Roman /black/10 points”
Enable Syntax Highlight: Enable lookup result syntax highlight. The default is enabled.
Header Text: Result header font (first line of each result). The default is “Times New Roman /blue/bold/12 points”.
Dictionary Name: The default is “Times New Roman /blue/italic/10 points”.
Note: Any result text enclosed in [ and ]. The default is “Times New Roman /red/italic/10 points”.
Pronunciation: Any result text enclosed in \ and \. The default is “Times New Roman /green/italic/10 points”.
Cross-reference: Any result text enclised in { and }. The default is “Times New Roman /maroon/bold/10 points”.
Lookup Word: The query word. The default is “Times New Roman /maroon/bold/10 points”.

5.4. Setting System Tray parameters

Show icon in System Tray: If user close or minimize MrclDict Main Window, add the icon to system tray. The default is no.
Popup Window: If user enable File/Monitor Clipboard and a new word are paste to the clipboard, popup MrclDict main window from system tray. The default is yes.
Hide Window: If user does not click the Popup Window, hide it within the specified time. The default is 30 seconds.
Start in System Tray: Start MrclDict in system tray. The default is no.
Note: This option does not automatically start MrclDict when you login. Make short cut to MrclDict in your Startup Folder or add the path to MrclDict to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run, if you want MrclDict to automatically start when you login.
